Tennis Court Rules
It is important to remember that the courts are for public use as well as for BTA members and, under the agreement with Waverley Borough Council, all members are expected to abide by club rules. So here is a reminder of what is expected.
Rules for BTA members
- 1.Members will be invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held once yearly in the Holloway Hill cricket pavilion (our affiliated association) and to vote for any vacant officer positions
- 2. Members will abide by the rules of conduct displayed on the BTA notice board
- 3. All players must give due regard to those waiting to use the courts and to vacate promptly when booking time expires
- 4. Members requiring to use the courts for special events or local tournaments must give written application or e mail communication to the Chairman giving a clear four weeks’ notice
- 5.Members will give due regard to the neighbouring bowls club and cricket club and be sensitive to the possibility of noise disturbance.
- 6. Members must close the gates on completing their games but not seek to lock or secure the courts which remain as an open facility to the public during non‐BTA booked times in line with the social inclusion ethos of the BTA and agreement with Waverley Borough Council
- 7. If private coaching is required application must be made through the Head Coach Sue Goodfellow whose contact details are displayed on the club notice board and on the BTA website. Members are not allowed to bring in outside coaches for the purpose of private coaching
- 8. The BTA facilities, including the eight tennis courts and Multi‐Use Games Area are to be used for specified games only and no football or skate boarding is allowed on the tennis courts.
- 9. Annual subscriptions must be paid promptly and notice will be given by e mail when subscriptions are due. Reminders will be sent out on a monthly basis.
- 10. Members must take responsibility for their personal safety and first aid requirements. Whereas the courts are covered for public liability through Waverley Borough Council’s open space/parks indemnity BTA members must give reasonable care and attention to safe play technique and doctor’s health precautions. The BTA does not accept liability for loss, injury or untimely demise on the courts.
- 11. Any complaints regarding use of the courts or any conflict arising shall be reported to the committee either through the Chair or through one of the directors whose names appear on the BTA website. Alternatively complaints can be sent in writing to the Chair prior to the AGM giving reasonable notice regarding the circumstances of the event.
