It was a blistering hot June afternoon at Busbridge as we played our return mixed doubles match against West Surrey TC. In the away fixture,  we only managed to snatch one set against a very strong opposition playing on clay. This time, however, the team comprising Mel, Caroline, Sam and myself prevailed, beating them by a similar margin. Maybe the all-weather surface helped a bit, but there was no escaping the quality of some of the shots. Mel was on fire and not just because of the temperature on the court being close to 30 degrees C. We finished just as a thunderstorm passed and shed a few drops of much needed rain, and also in time to catch the end of the French Open where Djokovic broke the men's record for number of major wins.
