BTA Men's Doubles Friendly against Shalford

Following our opening friendly mixed match at West Surrey Tennis club in March, a BTA men's team played against a strong four from Shalford on a gloriously sunny first Sunday of April. The BTA team consisted of Richard Flavell paired with Stuart Hand, and John Barzallo with Paul Rennie. Each pair played two best-of-three matches over three hours and, although we ran them close with many deuce games, the Shalford team prevailed. We certainly earned the half time tea and chocolate biscuits.

Overall it was a very enjoyable hard-fought match with some excellent rallies and was a good introduction to competitive match tennis and what we might expect if we join a local league next year.

The retun match against Shalford will be mixed doubles at Busbridge on Saturday 29th April. We have two ladies, Mel and Lisa, lined up and could do with a few more men players in the squad.
